◇展覧会概要
分らないから風である。子供らとの一緒の毎日でいつも眺めている風景。同じようでも同じじゃない。子供らもそうである様に、風だけが知っていることがある。

以前の私の作品には、常に表現に必要なモチーフが含まれていて、そのときの自分自身の情緒を隠喩した物を描いた。音楽の好きな自分を描くときは常に楽器が入り、避けたいものは壁で蔽い、コミュニケーションの可能性は橋で表現した。心が晴れなければ曇り空を描き、なきたいときは豪雨の窓ガラスを描いた。

しかし子供が生まれ、一緒に過ごすようになってから、私はただ、一人生きるための力がまだ備わってない子供と毎日連れ添い、必要とする力を与え、助けながら行動を共にする。そこには、ただ幸せを噛み締め楽しんでいる父としての自分自身がいる。子育てはけして楽ではない。うるさい時もあれば言うことを聞かないときもある。しかし毎日過ぎ行く時間、そこには微塵のネガティブさはない。見る風景を、ちょうど憧憬という漢字の忄(りっしんべん)を除いた、幼子が風景を見る視点で描こうとしている。何を描いても構わないという自由奔放さも備わっている。キィビズムから抽象表現に変わりつつあったジャクソン・ポロックに近いかもしれない。
分らないから風、その風は決して無責任な風ではなく、とても大きな力がそなわってる。


We cannot understand the wind.

These days I have been spending time with my children looking at scenery.
The scenery looks the same but in a way its not the same. Only the wind knows the true nature of this scenery. Only the wind knows itself. Likewise, maybe only children know themselves.

In my former art work, the motif has always been an expression or metaphor drawn from my own emotions. For example, when I draw myself, I use a musical instrument as a metaphor. To represent something that should be avoided, that thing is enclosed in a wall. The need for or the possibility of communication is expressed by a bridge. A cloudy sky is drawn if the heart is not at peace; heavy rain on a windowpane signifies tears and sorrow.

However, when a child is born, and we begin to spend time together, I come to realize how mysterious this individual is. I feel like everyday I am just dealing with situations in the best way I can. I don’t feel equipped with knowledge or power to properly care for this one infant life. As a father, I feel like I am merely appreciating and enjoying happiness with my child. However, child-rearing is never easy. It is noisy. What is said may not be listened to. However, time passes every day. Each day is like a piece of a puzzle. I am trying to put the puzzle together to draw the scenery of childrearing. I want to see this scenery from the viewpoint of a little child. Maybe to capture this scenery, it requires a free style approach; drawing anything that is prompted by my emotions. It may be close to Jackson Pollock who was changing from the cubism to abstract expression.

It is a wind because we cannot understand it. However, even though the wind is very power, it is never irresponsible.
